Carla’s Sonshine
No, the name is not misspelled. The hybridizer, Florida Aquatic Nursery, gave the naming rights for this water lily to the International Water Lilies and Water Gardening Society as a fund raiser prior to its release in 2004. The highest bidder was Greg Witstock whose wife, Carla, named the new water lily for her sons. Carla's Sonshine, in addition to the unique name, has deep yellow petals and is the only viviparous yellow water lily on the market. Colorata is a species plant- not a hybrid. The cup shaped flowers are rich violet-blue with reddish blue tipped anthers. The flowers are 4.5 to 5.5 inches in diameter. Gigantea
