Star of Zanzibar is a vigorous bloomer. The star shaped- dark blue-flowers emit a strong fragerance in the morning. The green pads with maroon markings are arranged in a compact circle even when the plant reaches its flull size of five to six feet. This water lily received the Banksian Medal given by the Royal Hulticultural Society at the International Water Lily and Water Gardening Society in 2000.
